Plan :  You can easily reach in madurai by train, flight or car. after reach madurai your stay will be near meenakshi temple. you can get good hotel within your budget. starting 700/- to luxury . if you reach afternoon or evening so just enjoy local food, shopping, & locality. 

Next day early morning visit meenakshi amman temple, remember there have nothing allow inside temple. so it will be better that you keep your mobile, wallet , belt, bag every thing. only flower allow. there have luggage room outside temple. after Dharsan & puja you will back from temple and take breakfast, 

at afternoon you can take any sharing bus from your hotel reception for sightseeing. it will cose 300-500 per person.
